Research

Electronic Textbooks

I am currently directing a research project entitled Student and Instructor Centered Electronic Textbooks in the Hope College Computer Science Curriculum . The project is funded by the National Science Foundations Course, Curriculum and Laboratory Improvement program, in the Educational Materials and Development track.

The goal of the project is to develop an electronic textbook prototype that provides the traditional functionality of books (such as highlighting, annotating, and bookmarking) as well as taking advantatge of the digital nature of the electronic textbook, such as reader customization and collaboration. More information about this project can be found on the E-Text home page.

Online Surveys

I have developed an web-based survey system that can be used to gather all kinds of interesting data. More information can be found here.

If you were at the Hope College Tech and Teaching Rodeo or the Pre-College Conference and want to create an account for use with the system, click here. My presentation from the Pre-College Conference is also available. Finally, instructions for using the software are posted.
